MY FAVOURITE TAPAS BARS

My favourite tapas bars in the City Center and Triana.

On this part of my blog im going to recommend you nice and authentic old bars in Seville where you can enjoy a nice atmosphere and also taste good tapas and wines. Dont forget..only the authentic ones will be on my list.

Anyway first of all let me give you some tips about eating and drinking in tapas bars of Seville.

THE TIME TO GO OUT FOR TAPAS

The bars usually open since 12pm till 16 pm and since 20pm till 00.30am. We the spanish usually go for tapas in the lunch time around 14pm and for the dinner around 21-22 pm.

                               TIPS TO ORDER THE PLATES
                               The origin of the TAPA

Usually the bars on the menu they have different sizes for the plates:

TAPAS ( small plate ) 1/2 RACION ( 1/2 big plate ) and RACION ( big plate ). Some bars if you sit on the tables you can order only 1/2 RACION or RACION but not TAPAS.

Its funny the origin of the name TAPA in spanish. Tapa means cover. The oldest tapas bars in Seville like LAS TERESAS , BODEGA MORALES, EL RINCONCILLO etc...they serve only wines at the starting for the client. To accompany the wine they usually offered an small plate and the covered the wine with the plate ( COVER= TAPA )

TIPS TO ORDER THE WINES AND BEVERAGES

For drink the bars always have at list ONE RED WINE ( VINO TINTO in spanish ) from RIBERA DEL DUERO or from RIOJA ( both are regions of wines in Spain ) . Personally i like more the RIBERA DEL DUERO. In white wine ( VINO BLANCO in spanish ) they usually have RUEDA
( its a semi dry white wine ) . Also they usually have BARBADILLO wine. Its from Cadiz and its a semi sweet wine. Perfect for fish or shellfish.
For dessert i recommend you to order a cup of SOLERA47 or CANASTA . (Sweet sherry wines ) .
In some bars they serve natural orange juice.

Dont forget our GREAT BEER CRUZCAMPO  this beer is from Seville. ( Great quality, refreshing and perfect to accompany the tapas ). The favourite BEVERAGE for the SEVILLIANS!!

And..............THIS IS THE LIST!!!!!!!!

 Nº1   LAS TERESAS.

GoogleMaps: Santa Teresa 2.Sevilla.
District: City center.

This very old and authentic bar is at the heart of Barrio Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz Area was the place where the jews lived during the muslim occupancy of Spain.

This is one of my favourite BARS in the city center. Its more than one centery old . On this bar you can sit directly on the bar in front of the waiter and order your tapas and beverages. Also you have some tables and chairs outside. Then you can enjoy the walking of the people while you eat.

Even that this bar is in the most turistic area of Seville its not a bar only for tourist. Many locals specially neighbours of the Bar  love to come to Las Teresas and enjoy their nice tapas and wines.

Its very curious on this BAR that they cut the iberian ham on the old style, directly with the leg on the table. Also..on the top of the place where they cut the ham you can see some old knives ...the owner of the bar wrote the work life of them....Example...working between 1999 and 2004 :).

On this bar they sell one of the best  IBERIAN HAM in Seville.

ENJOY LAS TERESAS!!!!!!

 Nº2   CASA CUESTA.

GoogleMaps:Castilla 1, Sevilla

Also a very old and authentic bar located at Triana District just 15 mins walking from city center. It was founded at 1880 and keep the essence of these years. Its located just few steps from Mercado de Triana so a very nice idea should be to visit the fresh Market of Triana in the morning around 12 pm and then enjoy a delicious lunch n Casa Cuesta. Also to enjoy a nice dinner is very charming there. In Casa Cuesta you have the bar, a terrace and a very beautiful dining room inside where you can organize special events or enjoy with your friends or family very nice moments.

The food is delicious in Casa Cuesta. They cook traditional andalusian style and also you can enjoy delicious grilled meat, fresh fish, seafood etc.. Bar Giralda opened in 1934. The local where this bar is built is a former arabic bath. I love the architecture and deco of this bar. They have a really good service and a high quality food. Its like a restaurant of tapas...not the typical tapas bar where you usually stay standing on the bar; here you can sit on the terrace with the Giralda view and to observe the walking of the tourist or also you can sit inside. Both options are really good. Depends on the weather of course!!

They have a very good assortment of tapas and also they have everyday fresh fish, shellfish and clams ( Pescado, marisco y almejas in spanish ). Ask the waiter for the fresh fish ( Pescado fresco )

ANOTHER OPTION. MERCADO DEL BARRANCO
Google maps: Arjona 24, Sevilla

Anyway you have also a big space built in an old bulevar with several tapas bar together. The name of the space is MERCADO DEL BARRANCO. Its another option because the building is very nice and the quality of the foods & wines in the different bar-shops is interesting. Some of them cook very original and jummy!!!!!! The place is located between the city center and the district of Triana, next to the famous Triana Brigde. If you come by car a very good option is  from PARKING PASEO DE COLON just 300 meters from this place
