GASTRONOMY EXPERIENCES. FRESH AND ANTIQUITIES MARKETS

MY THREE FAVOURITE FRESH MARKETS IN SEVILLA

1. MERCADO CALLE FERIA.

Its my favourite fresh market in Seville. I also love the area where is located. In the old city center but not in the most turistic part. Inside the market you can find bars where they serve delicious tapas. Specially the fresh fried fish from the market. For fish better go since Tuesday. Monday is not a day for fish.

2.PESCAITO FRITO  ( FRIED FISH  )

Its very popular for the locals in Seville to buy pescaito frito ( fried fish ) in those shops. Its usually very fresh and very good fried. The way to order is per weight. Usually the people order 1/4 of Kilogram of each food. You can see the prices on the screens per weight.. Another way is to to ask per amount of money ..for example...to order 5 euro of ADOBO, CHOCO, GAMBAS FRITAS, CROQUETAS etc.... Usually you buy for delivery and eat at the street but also the have agreements with the bars next to the shops to eat the food and to order a drink. Depending on the shop i explain the details.

What i like more is :

CHOCOS ( Fried squid )
ADOBO ( FRIED  DOGFISH MARINATED ) Delicious!! our favourite in Seville
CROQUETAS ( CROQUETTES )
GAMBAS FRITAS ( FRIED SHRIMPS )
PAVIA DE BACALAO ( COD PAVIA )
PAVIA DE MERLUZA ( HAKE PAVIA )

To accompany is perfect a fresh beer or a white wine Barbadillo.

ANTIQUITIES MARKET. EL JUEVES  ( The " thursday " market ). Very traditional
google maps. Feria Street.

Dear friends, i highly recommend you to visit this antiquities Market called " El Jueves ". As his name tell its celebrated every thursday of the year. Starts early in the morning around 08.00am. This market its 8 centuries old and started with the muslim occupation in Seville. Miguel de Cervantes author of El Quijote mention in the novel Rinconete y Cortadillo this market. Its really traditional ...you can find a very good paint or very good sculpture to an strange object in 1 euro....Its very authentic.... At the end of the morning i recommend you to go to Vizcaino tavern in Feria street also ( look in google Casa Vizcaino ) to enjoy a traditional vermut as aperitive...then you can go to the market of Feria ( see above ) to lunch....then you will spend a nice morning.
